How to Convert mL to Grams
Converting mL to grams isn't as simple as a one-to-one swap. Milliliters measure volume, while grams measure mass. To go from one to the other, you need to know the density of the liquid or ingredient you're working with.
Here's the basic process:
- Find the density of your substance (usually in g/mL).
- Multiply the volume (in mL) by that density.
- The result is the mass in grams.
For water, this is easy since its density is 1 g/mL, meaning 100 mL of water weighs exactly 100 grams. For everything else, the density changes the answer, sometimes significantly.
