How to Convert Celsius to Kelvin
Converting Celsius to Kelvin is one of the simpler temperature conversions out there. Unlike switching between Celsius and Fahrenheit, there's no multiplication involved. You're just shifting the scale by a fixed offset.
The Kelvin scale starts at absolute zero, the coldest theoretically possible temperature, which corresponds to -273.15°C. So to move from Celsius to Kelvin, you add 273.15 to whatever Celsius value you have. That's it.
- Take your temperature in Celsius.
- Add 273.15 to that number.
- The result is the temperature in Kelvin.
Keep in mind that Kelvin doesn't use the degree symbol. You'd write 300 K, not 300°K. It's a small detail, but it matters in scientific writing and coursework.
